Wait...what? He typed the pause/filler "like" in his tweet?

"Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart..."

That's a little bit strange, isn't it? I understand typing ellipses or words like "um" to indicate surprise or confusion, but this is more like typing a stutter.

[Edit]

It occurred to me he may be using a voice-to-text feature. That would make more sense.

But the way, when I describe President Trump as insecure because he needs others to perceive him as he perceives himself (as I state here) this is what I'm talking about.

Good insight. I wonder if after "covfefe" someone younger than 50 showed him a voice-to-text app?  Grin

But he is brilliant, just ask him...

This was a series of three tweets, one right after another. I wonder if VtT works that way with Twitter? Can you open it and just start rambling into Twitter and have Twitter break it up for you into the mandated smaller tweets using ellipses at the breaks?

And further, his last tweet, the one with the "like," had ellipses in the middle of the tweet, indicating a pause. But can VtT technology do that? I get that Twitter might be able to use ellipses to indicate an overly long tweet has been broken up, but how could VtT possibly tell the difference between a pause and a full stop?

This is all very weird. Either he typed a "like," which is strange, VtT is way smarter than I realized, or someone else typed this, mimicking his speech patterns.

Maybe he spoke and edited it with typing, but left the "like."

It's odd, whatever it is.

[Edit]

I have another theory. He speaks his tweets using VtT technology, but then emails/texts them to a staffer who cleans them up and actually posts them to Twitter. And, as you say, this might be in response to the Covfefe moment.

Why don't we make something out of nothing? Should I start pointing out every "weird" thing the consensus at LNF types?

I admit it's not a big deal.

But it was bugging me. It's a mystery of sorts.

If this were playing out in a movie, I would see it as a kind of plot hole. It stands out as not quite right. His tweet had both the manner of natural speech and meticulous editing. It didn't make sense that he would use VtT and edit it himself, because that destroys the sole reason for him to use VtT (speed). It would be faster to just type it.

But speaking it and letting someone else edit it makes sense and lines up with his character. He seems like the kind of man that would enjoy having a secretary take his dictation, but those jobs don't exist any more. This would be the next best thing and it would protect him from any other Covfefe moments. Typos would be the fault if the editor, not himself.

It's not important, but it was interesting. To me anyway, especially given the irony of using a kind of valley girl colloquialism while speaking of his intelligence.

Nothing but your assumption here has anything to do with VfT. He typed "like." live with it.
