FISA: When the Senate passes it can Trump now spy on his political opponants too?

The House just passed the reauthorization of FISA, in spite of the opposition of some GOP members who objected due to the evidence mounting that shows that Obama had his key officials use FISA as a means to spy on his political opponents and attempt to steal the election from the American people.

When the Senate easily passes it and Trump signs it into law, I guess the precedent established by the last Administration, is that even if you get caught using this for political purposes, to spy on Americans in an attempt to subvert the free and fair election of our next POTUS, Trump can do the same thing, without any consequences to himself or any of his operatives.

I'm sure that Trump and his Team can come up with a far more credible reason than the Democrat's did with their bought and paid for Russian created Trump Dossier.  No doubt, insiders know exactly the RIGHT FISA Judge to go to, just like the Obama Team did.

Seriously though, the administration opposes FISA reforms despite Trump's tweet this morning:

"The Administration strongly opposes the “USA Rights” amendment to the FISA Amendments Reauthorization Act, which the House will consider tomorrow.  This amendment would re-establish the walls between intelligence and law enforcement that our country knocked down following the attacks of 9/11 in order to increase information sharing and improve our national security.  The Administration urges the House to reject this amendment and preserve the useful role FISA’s Section 702 authority plays in protecting American lives" (Source).

Yeah.  Obama created a real problem when he abused this security tool for his own political purposes.  I've never been fully comfortable with FISA, but just like during other times of war, the Constitution has had to bend in the interest of keeping our nation safe.

Now, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.  Obama and his henchmen (and women) knew they could abuse the purpose of this program and get away with it and this is exactly what's happening!

The problem is, perhaps we, the American people, can never trust our Public Servants to act solely in our best interests and not merely serve their own corrupt purposes.  This is where the real Treason is!

*sigh* Not even worth rehashing all this.

It has to bend eh? How about we just follow the Constitution and ensure protections for U.S. citizens' rights?

Here's what the amendment would do:

We have American citizens who are working in conjunction with foreign Terror Organizations and Foreign State sponsors of Terror.  Obama saw that he could have his people use this for political purposes and he did!

FISA may be a necessary evil, given the nature of the Terror Threat we face.  Obama has proven himself and the top brass of his Administration of having been untrustworthy with so much power.

I guess, if they pass it without any strings attached and Obama and his cabal get away scot free, then Trump will feel justified to do unto others exactly as his political enemies have done unto him; all one has to do is to make up any flimsy story.  It doesn't matter if it falls apart afterwards; there is no penalty for their wrongdoing!  Trump can now f**k anyone he wants to as a matter of national security! ( I wonder how many Democrats ever spoke with any foreigner about anything...ever in their life!"

And when you suspect them of that, you can obtain a FISA warrant or a regular warrant.

What the amendment does is try to stop the warrantless searches of meta data, ends reverse targeting (so you can't target a foreigner in order collect US citizens' communications), prohibits domestic collection, and provides improved oversight. Does that not seem reasonable?

Why wouldn't Trump just ask the Russians to do it for him.

Isn't this the basis for Trump's charge that Obama was conducting surveillance on his team improperly?  The white house should be all in favor of this amendment for that reason alone.  And Trump was for it before he was against it.

I've read reports that position it both ways. News seems to be a pick your story proposition these days.
