I confess, I was around in 1966 when the character first appeared in The Avengers.  I bought the mag and still wish I had it.  For a kid that lived in the ghetto, it was a major thrill to see THAT.  I should point out there was no "Black Panther party" at that time.  This was strictly Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.  As things go in my life, I'll be able to take my kids to see a comic hero at the same age when I first saw him.  Check it out.

Greg

Black Panther made his debut in Fantastic Four. My brother has that comic.

Black Panther is probably my favorite Marvel hero. He has a cool name and costume, and I usually prefer acrobatic-type, street-level heroes rather than thunder gods or kryptonians.

I remember reading team-ups between the Black Panther and Daredevil. They were such a cool team! Loved those contrasting costume colors.

I couldn't agree more with that sentiment.

As a kid, I could never get into Thor or Superman or any of the truly overpowered superheroes.

Batman, Wolverine, Spider-Man, the Punisher. Far more interesting to me, even now, though some of those Avenger movies have been pretty slick.

I took 2 of my kids to see it yesterday.. It was a fun movie. Well acted, great cinematography/special effects. Lot's of good laughs.
Even has Michonne from Walking Dead playing a great warrior.
Kind of sad that it's involves fantasy about a technologically advanced African society hiding in plain site. I mean sad that it is merely a fantasy.  Not sure if that's a good thing, but politics aside, I enjoyed it.
His power comes from a mix of magical herbal plants and technology (his kenetic energy absorbing suit).

I saw it on Friday. It's really good, although I found the ending fight between T'Challa and his chief antagonist to be rather anticlimatic and confusing.

The characters were great, and so was the storyline. Very clever writing.

I could have done without the lame political messaging, though.

I thought the final fight scene was well done.  The villain was an angry, sad ghetto kid that was seeking vengeance on those that killed his father, and on what he perceived as the oppressive world powers.  He always remembered his dad telling him of the gorgeous Wakanda sunsets. He got to see it as he died.

Oh, I definitely agree. The villain was really great. Not one-dimensional.

What I meant by the final fight scene was the setting. They fought in some high-tech tunnel thingy with vibranium energy - something like that. I thought it was rather lame and somewhat confusing. I would have preferred if they fought on the Wakandan land, or some kind of battle pit.

I agree. That's why I loved the line in Batman vs Superman. "you're not brave, men are brave."

This is a rental for me. All of the Marvel and DC movies are. You couldn't pour me into a theatre with a bunch of kids and sticky confections.
