How should we react?

How should we react when we hear accusations of sexual harassment or abuse?

Do we automatically assume the accusations are true?

Do we think, "Well, innocent until proven guilty"?

I'm guessing that, most of the time, it is a "He Said/She Said" situation. In these cases, what do you think is the correct way to respond to such an accusation?

In the courtroom, under criminal proceedings, we must have proof beyond reasonable doubt.

In the case of security clearances, the requirement is much lower.  Security investigators build a profile, accumulate information, interview people, and make an assessment.  The impact on those accused is correspondingly lower -- nobody is going to go to jail if they fail their clearance.

In the case of public opinion, it's anybody's game, as Trump showed us repeatedly when he claimed Obama was born outside the US.

We should react in as much a Christian way as possible and we should kill them all, god will recognize his own.

But not maybe before torturing them to make them admit to these crimes in order to purify their soul and give them a chance to be saved after their deaths.

After all, that's how the Inquisition dealt with these questions and they were all Christians following the good book...

I'm not referring to any specific instance. I'm talking about in general terms.

If you automatically assume the accusation to be true, you may be falsely damaging someone's reputation or opportunities for employment.

If you automatically assume the accusation to be false, you may be letting a predator get away with a serious crime or wrongdoing.

So Paris... right?

What if you have police photos of the woman with a black eye? Is the guy automatically still getting treated unfairly when he is denied a security clearance and loses his job?

This is easy: How do you know she got that black eye from the accused?

You seem to be trying to shift the conversation to one specific case. Again, I am talking about in general terms. Try to keep the politics out of it, and answer based on my premise.

If you were robbed and told the police that you were robbed you'd want them to believe you.

The "Believe Women" movement means just that.

If a women (or man) tells the authorities that they were molested, raped or had an encounter with Trump, they simply want their account to be taken seriously.

It does not mean "guilty until proven innocent"  The intent is not to toss due process out the window.

Evidence matters.
