Marvel or DC?

When it comes to comic books, which company do you prefer?

For me, it's always been DC. I think DC's comics are a lot easier to read and not as dark or gloomy or convoluted. Sometimes DC falls into the trap of trying to become more "adult" like Marvel, and I don't like that.

Plus, DC has so many great legacy characters like Batman, Robin, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. Marvel has a lot of great heroes, too, but overall they're not as iconic.

DC also has cooler villains, like Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luther and Darkseid.

Now, when it comes to movies, Marvel wins easily. For whatever reason, DC has not been able to match the quality of Marvel films.

Marvel.

Marvel has Punisher, Spiderman, and Wolverine.

DC has Batman.

Marvel is therefore 3 times cooler than DC.

DC also has the Green Arrow, which has really gotten a boost through their awesome show on the CW.

DC also has the two best villains in the comic world, bar none: Deathstroke and The Riddler.

But Batman is cooler than all three of those combined. You could throw in Daredevil, too.

Marvel.  Hands down.  Not even close.

I used to ride my bike down to Four Brother's Grocery store to buy comics when I was about 13 or 14.  Almost never bought anything by DC.

Not because I was making a conscious choice.  On the contrary, I liked Firestorm when I was around 7 or 8.  I remember digging his fire hair.  But I also remember I read Firestorm while rocking on a big plastic spring loaded rocking horse I got for Christmas when I was 3 or 4.

I'm not saying DC is for small children and Marvel is for a more selective and mature crowd.  I won't say it.  I would never say anything like that.

Oh, I think it’s safe to say that Marvel caters to a more mature audience. Their stories are generally more complex and darker.

That’s why I prefer DC. I like simpler stories that are easier to follow.

LOL

I'm not really sure that's true.  I was just being stupid with the 7 yr old vs 13 yr old comparison.  I expected a joke about me being unable to tell what maturity means.

I don't know why I just preferred Marvel.  I had limited funds from my paper route.  For some reason my 13 year old self simply preferred Marvel.  I don't think "maturity" was really the reason why.

Honestly.  Objectively.  I was 13.  The odds are pretty good that the Marvel comics just had hotter women in skimpier costumes on the covers than the DC ones.

Take that maturity.

I’m guessing you had a thing for the Scarlet Witch.
