You wouldn't be able to fly to Las Vegas with using it ..

Yes I would. You get on a plane and it takes you there. You don’t need to understand isosceles triangles.

Without an understanding of geometry, you'd get on the plane and sit on the tarmac until the food ran out.

It's a long-shot that this is just a coincidence.

Anybody hazard a guess how I knew Wads had used somebody else's words?

Lol.  Another Wads fail.

The vocabulary was far too advanced for him?

Watched it.  A shotgun is for long ranged shooting.  That is why hunters like them.  An AR-15 is not.  That video was misleading.

Dude. I get that pilots might need geometry skills. But *I* don't.

I specifically said why should *I* take courses that won't benefit me, and have nothing to do with *MY* planned major?

It's just a scam to get you to pay more money and waste more time to support their university.

Yes, I heard about this. Just goes to show McLame’s true loyalties. Hopefully, Trump won’t go to his funeral very, very soon.

The more I think about it, the more I think that a college education is a big scam. No matter what degree you seek, they make you take boring “core” courses that you have no interest in or have little practical value in your life. If you could only take classes that you are majoring in, college would be a lot faster and cheaper.

The idea is that they want, as much as possible, to turn out a well-rounded adult with a 4 year degree at the end. When I went to college in the early 70's, at a major university, students were not required to declare a major for the first two years. But of course for some sciences it was a good idea to get going on the major core classes ASAP. Still, I remember having to take a course in my state's history before I could get my degree, in my senior year. Which had nothing to do with my major, but whatever. It was interesting nonetheless.

It sounds, however, that you'd be a lot happier in a two-year community college, or a vocational college, where you learn a trade and little else. Am I right?

I disagree. For example, if I plan on being a culinary chef, how does taking geometry benefit me?

It could help you:

1) Sharpen knives properly

2) Figure out the best arrangement of croissants on a baking tray

3) Figure out how much filet mignon to order to serve the expected number of diners

etc etc etc

There's a LOT of math in cooking, as well as physics, geometry, biology, chemistry, etc. But if all you're going to do is flip burgers at Jiz-In-The-Box, I see your point.

Hey, Fiddles. Somewhere in the above response, Molasses is tossing you a juicy slow pitch right above the plate. Go ahead and smack it!  Smiley
