Hey, Fiddles. Somewhere in the above response, Molasses is tossing you a juicy slow pitch right above the plate. Go ahead and smack it!  Smiley

Yes I would. You get on a plane and it takes you there. You don’t need to understand isosceles triangles.

Actually, for navigation, right triangles would be far more useful than isosceles triangles. Did you ever learn trigonometry? No?

Sad.

I don’t even know what an isosceles triangle actually is. I just remember the term.

And.............

And in a thread featuring you advocating a broad liberal arts education in college, you needed to use somebody else's words, without providing citation, to support the importance of taking geometry.

Seems if you knew it was important to take geometry, you could have sussed out for yourself why. And if you couldn't, then perhaps give credit to another for figuring it out for you.

2 equal sides and, therefore, 2 equal angles.

The fact that I remember this has no value to my life whatsoever.

Both the doubled angle fix and four point fix use isosceles triangles.  Roll Eyes

I prefer using some one else's words that I agree with.

And what do people generally call that, when a source is not provided?

OK, well obviously I'm not a navigator. I was speaking more from the point of view of a draftsman, where right triangles are king.

Even so, for computation, wouldn't most isosceles triangles be bisected into two right triangles?
