Why are other country's citizens banned?

Is it because they're Muslim?

If so, WTF does it matter that SA isn't banned?

A ban on people, based on their religion, is a ban on people, based on their religion. Banning Catholics, except from the Vatican, is still a ban on Catholics. Providing an exception, based on geography, is just an exception...based on geography!

I think it matters from a constitutional standpoint when you're not attempting to use it as propaganda, either Trump or the Dems to rile people up.  If it's a Muslim ban, in order to meet the bar of "unconstitutional" it would have to actually ban Muslims wouldn't it?

Does the fact that these are all countries Obama listed and highlighted as dangerous and travelers were in need of extra scrutiny matter?

How the Trump administration chose the 7 countries in the immigration executive order - CNN, Jan 30, 2017

The seven Muslim-majority countries targeted in President Trump's executive order on immigration were initially identified as "countries of concern" under the Obama administration.

****

In December 2015, President Obama signed into law a measure placing limited restrictions on certain travelers who had visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011. Two months later, the Obama administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen to the list, in what it called an effort to address "the growing threat from foreign terrorist fighters."

It's constitutional when Obama restricts travel from those countries but not when Trump does it?

I just think it would be easier, less divisive, and garner more support if it was a simple ban on countries X, Y and Z due to reason A, B and C.

But nooo...big mouth has to "tell it like it is", (Muslims are banned until we figure out WTF is going on!) which paints him into a corner, leading to exceptions, which paints him into another corner.

To me, it's symptomatic of a speak first (emotion) think later (reason), which his base loves but drives the rest of us crazy!

edit: Didn't quote or respond but thanks for the reply earlier in the thread, appreciate it.

I agree completely.  And in my opinion it sets the left up nicely.

It throws red meat to his base as we've both pointed out.  Not just red meat, but the reddest of red meat.

It let's Trump trade on his straight shooting "I'm going to tell it like it is these are MUSLIM terrorists" street cred.

And when the left protests, it further drives the right crazy because OBAMA!!!!!

(As I pointed out with an article from CNN no less ... not from breitbart.)  In fact, it seems to be an argument that makes Trump seem reasonable to the clueless schmucks who pay zero attention.

Trump wins whether the SC rules for or against him on this.  If they rule for him it's Trump winning and keeping us safe.  If they rule against ... it's one more example of how Washington is broken cuz OBAMA!

That's why the Trump admin deliberately chose countries Obama selected IMO, when it seems like everything else Obama did is only worthy of repeal and criticism.

I think the judges who blocked the travel ban did a tremendous disservice to the Democratic Party.  It literally causes me physical pain to see people cheer when they've taken what I am concerned are life threatening blows.

In your world, can goats talk?

Can they sign NDA's?

Hold interviews with social media?

Accept hush money?

No to all.  Will you answer my questions?  They were also yes or no questions.

That is what it was.  Specific countries based on specific security issues that were laid out by the Obama administration.

That is not what happened.

That is what he "call[ed] for" on the campaign trail.  But if Obama called for a public option (health insurance) on the campaign trail, that doesn't mean his compromise of subsidies to private insurers are suddenly, now, a public option.

Really?

No.

Why?

Because answering yes or no would indicate that I agree with you that goats and human porn actresses are pretty much the same thing.

As far as I know, they aren't.

So I do not answer your questions.

Thanks for submitting new and improved but still unacceptable straw man arguments!

How would you call it "agreeing" when I never made such a claim or implication.

You must have misunderstood something.  Especially if you believe answering "no" to those questions is an admission that goats and porn stars are the same.

Of course you won't answer the questions.  Because they allude to either a contradiction (if you require actual proof in one case and not in the other) or an admission that there isn't enough evidence to support a claim that Trump hooked up with Stormy (if you accept that such proof is necessary).

An interesting statement considering the strawman you constructed that I somehow claimed goats and porn stars are the same.
