So open trade, no restrictions?  Wow, Japan would freak over that, so would China.

Here it is. So now trump looks like the good guy and the rest of the countries who have been the beneficiaries of trade policies will be exposed.

He wants Russia back in.  Something happened years ago that was Obama's fault so he wants them back in now.

Obama has not been president for a while. Let’s focus on success and hopefully trump will accomplish a more equitable trade policy with other countries.

Whoa. This move is highly, highly entertaining to me.

By which I mean I fully approve of this.

Well, this is most likely just another ploy by the con man in chief.

He knows damn well the rest of the G7 and major economies will never agree to give up their right to impose tariffs on imported goods. So it's safe for him to propose this tariff free world, because it will never happen.

Even if it's just a game to say: "This is what I'm willing to propose. If you're against actual free trade, then don't be surprised when the US hits you with tariffs in response. So let's come to the table and reduce tariffs together", then that will be a win.

I don't know why else he'd be pulling this frankly hilarious move.

The United States got into the habit of 'helping' our less fortunate neighbors due to our prosperity in the aftermath of World War II and the fierce competition between the former Soviet Union and the US around the globe.  After the end of the Cold War, our habit of shouldering the burden of the problems of the world, just sort of lingered on.  Trade deals which were not reciprocal just became the norm.  Other nations have come to expect that the American taxpayers (as well as our military) will always carry their weight and support them.

It takes a revolutionary American Leader such as Trump to realign all these stars and demand reciprocity and fairness.

Why should our trading partners be allowed to have tariffs on our goods and refuse to open their markets to some American made goods altogether.  This has been the case for many years and it is certainly not "Free Trade"; it is America subsidizing the rest of the world!
