What would be your perfect meal?

I love Thanksgiving, so you can guess what mine would be. Smiley

Roast turkey with stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Corn on the cob
Ice cold Pepsi
For dessert, however, I would replace pumpkin pie with banana cream pie (w/vanilla ice cream)

My second-favorite meal:

Roast duck w/char bao buns
Chinese cake noodles
Sticky rice
Fried taro
Sweet tea
Dessert: Green tea ice cream

My third-favorite meal:

Chicken pho
Summer veggie rolls w/peanut sauce
Hot tea
Dessert: custard tart

Rib eye steak, my favorite. I wait for the local supermarkets to put it on special, buy a "Max Pack", seal in vacuum bags, and freeze for later.

And here's a steak secret: years ago I saw advertised a heavy aluminum platter that was advertised as a great aid for defrosting food like steak and fish. Well, I prefer to defrost slowly in the fridge overnight, but prior to searing, I put the thawed steak in a heavy aluminum pan and let it sit there for 30 min to an hour to warm to room temp. Dry off any juice with paper towels, then sear 1 min each side in pan or on grill. Finish cooking at low heat about 3-4 min per side, depending on thickness. After that, let it rest in warmed covered plate for about 10 min. While that's going on, stir fry some veggies as a side. Serve with steamed brown rice.

Doesn't get much better.
