Will NASA Find Life On Mars?
Sep 3rd, 2018 at 8:51am
Print Post
Curious to see how many people here believe there is life on Mars? Will NASA created life on Mars? If so, how will NASA achieve this? After all, trillions of tax payer dollars will be needed for the Mars Project. Do you think its worth the money? How much faith do you have in evolution that would make your trust the overly expensive Mars Project?

The goal of NASA was to understand our own origins by studying Mars and, most importantly, to apply a sorta theistic evolution on Mars so that it will become more inhabitable...NASA being the deity.

So they originally wanted to send up 3 very large solar mirrors in orbit around Mars so the ice caps would melt and the planet would produce a greenhouse effect.

I thought maybe you could figure that out by yourself.  First lets make it clear that NASA has claimed they have abandoned the idea of terraforming Mars due to not having the technology to do it. That is the reason why have abandoned it. Their claims would also say if they had the technology they could do it. So for the sake of discussion lets say NASA had a 100-trillion dollar budget to work with. What next? What can they do to revive dead red?

Erm... no, it’s quite hard to figure out what you mean.

What would finding life, or evidence of extinct life, on Mars have to say about evolution?

Was there life on Mars in the far distant past? I do not know. If there was then maybe evidence could be found to possibly support that. But is there any life on the planet now? The answer is no, and no life will ever be found on Mars. But to terraform Mars is a whole different issue. This is not about finding evidence for life on Mars in the distant past or finding life on Mars in the present now. Its about making Mars inhabitable for life again. Now I find this idea largely fallacious and completely out of touch with science. Why would "scientists" even consider they had the ability to do this? How could terraforming Mars even happen? I am in total disagreement with the idea and do not believe it can be done. You give NASA the technology needed and a 100-trillion dollar budget to work with and nothing is gonna change on Mars. They cannot terraform the planet.

In your OP you talked about evolution.

Now you’re vaguely trying to cast doubt on a project you’ve not described.

Read the intro. Its about terrraforming Mars. Is it scientific to think about such a project? Is there any real science behind it? Maybe its all fantasy at the expense of tax payers?

Ok so your mention of evolution in the OP was gratuitous and irrelevant. Got it.

As to terraforming- cool idea. If we’re going to go to other, extra-solar system, planets then terraforming is likely a necessity to some extent.

We’ve terraformed Earth to a large extent, mostly before people could even make metal tools. Can’t see a (very) long term terraforming operation as ‘fantasy’.
