On a tangent, I would like to express frustration at federal flood policies.  I read a long story in the paper today about a woman whose house was heavily damaged 2 years ago by Matthew.  She had to move into a trailer for a year, and then in with extended family while waiting for federal relief money to repair/rebuild.

The work finally started, her house was well underway to being made livable again, and now comes Florence, ready to do it all again.

One of her complaints was that the federal relief money was tied up for a long time because of concerns about rebuilding in low-lying land that will inevitably get flooded again.  Two years go by, and now it's getting flooded again.

Money wasted.  Woman's life upended while she clings to a bad piece of property.  Destruction of wetlands perpetuated -- wetlands that would go a long way to absorbing floodwaters.

Having lived in both ca and se fla I am very familiar with insurance in earthquake fire and hurricane prone areas.

I can’t really blame the insurers. If they choose to insure they must charge a large fee and pay up if when something happens. But mudslide and fire places like Malibu are nice properties with great views so people will put up with losing everything or the risk of it ever x years.

Amazing what personal accountability will accomplish. Heard only five direct deaths reported so far. Another huge huge success for trump and another great job by, in order, individuals for taking responsible actions, local cities and towns for acting as they should, the star and last the feds and fema for providing the limited support they provide in these situations.

Great for Carolina, but I will not accept Rico effort. It is part of our country. Like me, they don't need a passport to travel across the country.

Well Ulysses. I hate to tell you this. But a simple google search would tell you that right now there are a million without power in the Carolinas.

Does the left think that if they post it it is somehow true.

A shotgun is for long range shooting or the infamous South Africa’s economy is flourishing.

And now you. More fake news from the left. Trump right again.

Where is useless. More fake news and lies. No response? Typical fake lies from the wacky emotional left. Useless has joined the wads ranks - “a shotgun is for long range shooting”
