I’m sorry. That is not what he wrote.

I often write about monopolizing ideas but I understand a patent involves more than just ideas. Lomelis does too.

I’d also point out the obvious. You are free to patent it not patent, copyright or not, or trademark or not. There is no govtvreuirement to do so.

No doubt.

But that's not the complaint.

The complaint is patents undermine innovation and reduce private property rights.

To the extent my property can be used to produce something which has IP protection, I am prevented from having exclusive control of my property by the state on behalf of some commercial interests.

It doesn't matter if I separately and independently come to the same inspiration. As we know from history most inventions occur in duplicate, nearly simultaneously.

Whoever gets to the patent office first gets to exclude the rest and prevent them from using their own property how they wish.

Sure.. The enormous dearth of PC clones in the 80's was a sight to behold.

You do not 'produce' something .. The developer produces..

Perhaps like patenting ideas this is another of the things you write about but understand differently..

Seriously.. Why not just steal Microsoft Office off the shelf at Best Buy?..  There's no difference in what you're suggesting.

Quote:
A paper presented at the recently completed annual Allied Social Sciences Associations meeting found a significant effect of patents on cumulative innovation. Alberto Galasso of the University of Toronto and Mark Schankerman of the London School of Economics look specifically at the effect of patent invalidations on citations of those innovations in future patents.

Neither is murder, fraud or rape.

Am I not capable of being a developer? What are developers? Aliens?

Now you're just being an asshole.

So Stravinsky and Mozart were thieves? They borrowed the ideas of others and made them their own.

You can't steal an idea. You can steal a Microsoft OS disc. Therein lies the difference.

This thread is hilarious, Liberals would rather slit their throats and slowly bleed out then admit Trump succeeds at anything.

Oh, he succeeded all right at nothing more than helping to create NAFTA 2.0.  Another highly regulated trade agreement.

Watched it.  A shotgun is for long ranged shooting.  That is why hunters like them.  An AR-15 is not.  That video was misleading.
