I'm not endorsing this plan by any means but it's the best of it's kind that I've seen.

What do you think?

I listened and while I am not sold on the whole man made climate debate, I do believe we can lead the charge  in taking care of what we have.

Whether having an (R) or (D) behind the proposal doesn't sell me on the idea as I worry about who's getting richer off the scam to begin with.

Okay, so why wouldn’t you endorse this?

There isn't enough information in a 13 minute video to sell me on it.

Anyone who wants to do something to stop “climate change” should be free to do so.

People like me, who don’t care, should be free to not do anything.

Regardless of what side of the discussion you are on, I think all would prefer to have energy that is clean and sustainable. Do any of us like buying gas, all the politics that go along with it, oil, coal etc. it’s dirty and expensive. Even if it had no impact on climate, I’d look for a good alternative.

The problem with a tax to curb consumption is it never works unless there is a viable substitute.

Think of gas prices. Even when they have doubled over time driving distance does not go down measurably, and corresponding oil and fuel sales units.  So the notion that a 7 percent tax will influence behavior of crtitical use items has no merit

Specific to the video, he sounded very good, but I don’t understand the math. We will tax you, run it through the govt distillery and then give you a rebate (dividend) almost equal to the tax. How? I’d rather keep my money.

Taxes show up as a cost of doing business if the business pays it, and it will be reflected in pricing. If cost is borne by the consumer, I now have a higher priced product. If it’s a necessary product, like gas for driving or heating my home, I won’t use less of it and I’ll have less money.

Oil came about not for cars but as a substitute replacement for whaling oil for lamps.

Innovation in alternatives is what is required not taxes.

Those are fine. I just should not be forced to get them.

As opposed to  being forced to choose either gas, electricity or oil
