Actually it needs funding and an actual plan and no one can tell us how to do that. But, you're trying to be a badass leftist. That's so cute. Smiley

The Brits, the French, the Swedes, the Germans, etc. have figured it out.

Are you saying Americans are more stupid than Europeans?

My most recent experience with our medical system: I have Medicare and a private supplemental insurance plan. I broke my shoulder and humerus right after Christmas. I was in and out of the emergency room within two hours; got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon in five days; and a month later was scheduled for PT one day after I called them. All this cost me only nominal co-pays. I like our system; it works, and quite efficiently, in my experience.

Forbes Magazine on NHS (October 2018 article)

This August, a record number of Britons languished more than 12 hours in emergency rooms. In July, the share of cancer patients who waited more than two months to receive treatment soared.

The NHS is also short 42,000 nurses. In the second quarter alone, nurse vacancies increased by 17%. Meanwhile, in the United States, nearly all states will have a surplus of nurses by 2030.

The shortage of providers has resulted in longer wait times for patients. In May, 4.3 million people in the United Kingdom were on waiting lists for surgery, a 10-year high. Adjusting for population, that would be like having everyone in the state of Florida on waiting lists. Roughly 3,500 British patients have been on hospital waiting lists for more than a year.

More than one in five British cancer patients waits longer than two months to begin treatment after receiving a referral from a general practitioner. In Scotland, fewer than 80% of patients receive needed diagnostic tests -- endoscopies, MRIs, CT, scans and the like -- within three months.

These delays are deadly. An analysis that covered just half of England's hospitals found that almost 30,000 patients died in the past year while waiting for treatment -- an increase of 57% compared to 2013.

Those figures do not agree with  historical data that shows Brits have twice as good health outcomes for 1/2 the cost for Americans.

Of course, the UK currently has a conservative government, so it's entirely possible they fücked it all up.

That is exactly right; the Conservatives hate the NHS but can't outright say so because nobody would ever vote for them again.

So they bring in absurd 'market reforms' which hamper the system badly. whether this is due to ideological sabotage or a genuine belief that things will be better with business running healthcare (would anyone ask a doctor to run a logistics company?) I don't know.
