Vaccination has been such a success, that we as a society have forgotten the horrible effects of the diseases that plagued our great grandparents.

Thus, the tiny (and indeed mostly fictional) risks from the vaccination itself are outweighing in some parents' minds the need for vaccination.

OMG people. Yes, measles is easily prevented but it isn't a death sentence either. Maybe 1 in 1000 will die. https://www.cdc.gov/measles/index.html

Contrast that with the flu at 14 in 1000.

It is not child abuse to skip the MMR. Some even have allergic reactions to the MMR. Most people develop a natural immunity to measles by the time they are 15. So let's stop with the histrionics.

Being infected with a disease that will keep you quarantined, prevents you from going to school, and causes every child to miss school is not a serious problem to you?  The only way you can develop a "natural immunity"   to the disease is to get the disease.  Vaccination is the better alternative.

How is that different to chicken pox? Every kid misses school. I'm not at all concerned by it. You are freaking out because of the stigma of measles. But measles isn't as bad as you want it to be.

Children get vaccinated for chicken pox as well.  Illnesses such as these hurt the economy.  People need to quarantine their children.  That means taking days off from work which in turn hurts the economy and the parents who have to miss work.  Many of them do not get paid to stay home.  Unlike in the days when most moms were housewives.

Oh for crying out loud. Kids get sick. Adults have to stay home. It happens. It does not hurt the economy enough to matter.

Kids do not get sick as often as they used to.  Thanks to vaccinations

I can’t argue with that, but you are going whole hog over a few days over the lifetime of a person. At what cost? I always side with more freedom over more control. Yes, freedom has a cost. In this case, a couple of sick days is a minor price to pay for the freedom to choose medical procedures.

That's ignorant.  How about the freedom to drive drunk or the freedom to abuse your pet or the freedom to walk downtown in your birthday suit.  Let's have the freedom to do anything we damn well please.

I never said the costs of some freedoms aren’t too high. I’m not advocating for anarchy.
