As measles returns, U.S. states look to cut vaccine exemptions

Reuters) - Maine could soon prohibit parents from citing religious or personal beliefs to avoid vaccinating their children, making the U.S. state one of a half dozen cracking down during the nation's largest measles outbreak in 25 years.

Good, endangering children should not be an option.

I’m not so sure this is a good thing. It’s another instance of government intruding upon parental rights.

Parents are dumb if they don't protect their children. Its not fare to the child.

Its like laws saying they have to be strapped while in a car.

I don’t agree with seat belt laws, either. But in that case, you don’t have a Constitutional right to drive.

You don’t have a Constitutional right to education, either. So maybe kids who aren’t vaccinated can be banned from attending school. That is better than forcing parents to vaccinate their children. That should be up to the parents to decide.

It's not just in school that unvaccinated kids can spread measles. So that way of trying to check it won't work.

Are going to keep kids out of church? Out of playgrounds? Out of stores? Off public transportion? Will  you keep them locked into hermetically sealed rooms?

Yes, but its not as bad and the chances are much lower. Someone with the vac will be fine. A child with it should be taking to the hospital while the parents go to jail.

Parents don’t have a right to raise a child that will infect other people with a desease that is preventable

No blacks will buy that cap.  Look at the bill! It's all curved like normal people wear. The bill of the hat is supposed to be flat with a shiny goofy looking sticker in the middle of it.

No self respecting thug would be without his sticker!

Good point.  There are also laws against child abuse.  To me, not vaccinating your child is abuse

All laws are not constitutional.  However, isolation is not just keeping the child out of school.
