I think that would be a misread. You're forgetting that Que is a liberal and it comes natural to liberals to find the sorts of things Trump does and says deplorable or monstrous.

It just so happens he also finds left-wing illiberalism as bad or worse. That's hard to fathom when we think of people as partisans, but there is a growing contingent of people in the middle who can't stand either party and for similar reasons.

I don't know why guys like Vypr have so much trouble with that relatively simple concept.

I'd say it's a bi-partisan ailment. It comes from drinking the kool-aid.

If your party is right and the other is wrong, objectively speaking, there's no reason for other people not to vote with you. If they don't, they must be supporters of the other party.

This is black and white, good and evil sort of thinking. There's no room for nuance or a 3rd view.

You're either a Democrat or a Republican. That's it.

Yes... I complain about what a pit our news media has turned into.

Our news media shouldn't be a political pit of vipers.  But they are.

First, I'll address each of the quotes Vypr thinks say something different than what I'm saying now.

Quote:
A pandering douchebag simply giving voice to the thoughts and concerns of millions of middle Americans. There's another thread where I said he's simply telling people what they want to hear. And he is. Trump is nothing if not an opportunist.

What he's doing is exposing the petty minded thinking of a shitload of Americans.

Yep.  Trump is a pandering douchebag.  And a shameless opportunist.  It's pretty much his entire brand.  The guy is a used car salesman on steroids.  I've lost track of the number of times I've pointed this out on the boards.  But leftists hear "used car salesman" and they think tacky, shallow, liar.  They don't hear what they should be hearing.  Master of psychological manipulation.  A good used car salesman is one of the richest men in any town.  Because a used car salesman owns the local auto dealerships, and uses a craft honed by centuries of use and perfection and in recent decades ... scientific research.

Trump is *still* exposing the petty minded thinking of a shitload of Americans.  On both sides of the aisle.

Quote:
And I was saying Trump represents the ego and superego too.  As in...that's exactly the moral compass and thought process behind the Trumpa Loompahs.  He's really popular around these parts.  Even my dad and older sister are Trumpa Loompahs because "he has the balls to say what other politicians won't" ... in other words ... exactly what they all have been thinking for years.  It's sad.  And really makes me want to hasten my exit out of state sooner than next summer.  I grew up here.  I've hated it since I was in the 4th grade and always get pulled back.

Yep.  All true.  10 years ago I got guilt tripped/convinced to move back to this town for what I referred to (using the help of my friend the infamous Darwinist/Rick's suggested framing) as a 4 year military signup.  And then I couldn't rationalize moving my kids out of the high schools they were attending.  So it took 10 years but now I'm moving at the end of the summer to California.

And you're ignoring something important in that quote:  "Exactly what they all have been thinking for years."  That's the secret to Trump's success and why I continue to maintain to this day that he is far more popular than polls and breathlessly agitated news anchors would have you believe.  More on that later in this story.

Quote:
We need to go back to pretending a wall on the southern border is about immigration of all people's not just brown ones.

What can I say?  I'm opposed to a wall on our southern border and I'm for an open border.  Sometimes I let that run away with me.  I'm not above using the same petty and manipulative rhetoric other leftists use.  I think I've made that clear multiple times too.

Quote:
And you wonder why I think Trump supporters are full of spite and petty emotions?
Of course they're cheerful.  They finally have the dictator they've been longing for to put their anger and spite into action.

Yep.  I was manipulated by the news media outlets just like you are still being.  More on that later in this story.   Turns out, it isn't just Trump supporters who are motivated by spite and petty emotions.  I know!  I was pretty shocked too.

Quote:
Trump ....He's the dictator those who find self governance too difficult have been waiting for.  His rhetoric and style dovetail nicely with WWE events.  Idiocracy anyone?

Still true.  Except I was pretty wrong on that whole "dictator" thing.  Again, I was manipulated by news outlets in the same way you're still being manipulated.  But his rhetoric and style still dovetail nicely with WWE events.   And ironically, I can share multiple articles right now that have been written in recent months where moronic leftists are making claims like "It's irresponsible to bring children into this world."  Idiocracy anyone?

Quote:
Trump is the monster created by irresponsible right wing rhetoric.  The GOP wanted to ride that wave as long as possible to fire up the base ... not realizing what they'd get when they unleashed the beast. He's the dictator those who find self governance too difficult have been waiting for.

And this is the money shot.  I laughed and laughed and laughed at the GOP being eaten by a monster of their own creation.

And then I stopped laughing one day.  You guys kept trying to keep the laughter going.  And then I noticed the irresponsible left wing rhetoric.  And the monster growing on the left.  More on that later in the story.

To be continued later in the day.  Just for you, Vypr. Off to get breakfast with the wife.

To get you in the right frame of mind ... how's that whole Russian collusion narrative you've been running with the past couple years treating you?

No.  Those are my words.  Predating the use of the terms by most leftists here.  That was circa August 2015 Vypr is quoting me from.

The GOP let a monster flourish under their watch.  It wasn't just Trump.  It was every nitwit on the right yelling about Muslims and illegal immigrants and using irresponsible anti Obama rhetoric the same way leftists use irresponsible anti Trump rhetoric today.  Right wing radio shock jockeys.  Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin in print.  (More on that later in the story, for you Vypr.)

Dr. Frankenstein thought he had it under control.  He thought the monster would be a useful tool to get people to the polls to vote for the GOP.   He thought he could control the monster.  He thought he could pay lip service to opposition to illegal immigration and other issues important to the Frankenstein base, and then get into office and govern ignoring it completely ... because "hahahaha who else they got to vote for?  Suckers!"

But the monster came to life ... embodied in Trump ... turned on Dr Frankenstein and threw him over a cliff.  Dr Frankenstein is gone now.  Never to return.  A few years ago I made a thread arguing that Trump is the only hope for a future people on the right have left.  He still is.

And that's why Mitch McConnell and other unwilling members of the Trumplican Party won't oppose Trump.  These are not stupid men.

Opposing Trump means helping to kill right wing thought completely in America.  Trump is the right's last stand.  If Trump falls, the Joe Biden/Hillary Clinton wing of the Democratic Party is as far right wing as the United States will be in the future.

This.

All those posts about how Trump is a danger to our country and our world.

And now it's "The democrats not in office are worse than Trump.".

If I didn't know better, I'd think his right wing family members were holding a gun to his head as he types away on his computer.

But I do. So alzheimer's or dementia become the most logical explanation.

In 2020, when President Trump is reelected and we retake the House and gain a fillabuster proof majority in the Senate, then you can blame President Trump and the Republicans for this continuing mess in Washington.

I have to wonder if all that bud Queefshank's been smoking isn't laced with PCP...

What is the cost of lies? It's not that we'll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all. What can we do then? What else is left but to abandon the hope of truth and content ourselves instead with stories. In these stories it doesn't matter who the heroes are. All we want to know is who is to blame. - V. The best response the left has is "Queefshank has Alzheimers". No actual rebuttal just snarky, condescending and childish jabs. Topped off with "YOU'RE A TRUMP SLAVE!"

Actual criticism of the left that has taken over the party is not allowed.
