Out of 37 million, only 52 thousand are swinging by our side of the border....

Really?...

Greg Roll Eyes

As if 37 million were sick at once?  What are you talking about??  The relevant ratio  is (people coming to the US)/(total SICK Canadians) - get it, Sparky?  Roll Eyes

And why are ANY of them coming to the US, with that wonderful "single payer" system??

LOL, Patrick ignores the fact that some 20 million Americans have NO health care coverage.

WHY don't they have health insurance?  Why don't they get their ass out and earn some money and BUY some??

This is the problem with liberalism in lots of ways - it wants to rig ALL of society to cater to the WORST people - the lazy, druggy, juicers, irresponsible.

No, the relevant figure is how MANY Canadians HAVE access to health care (37 million) verses how many come to the United States for Non-emergency treatment (52,000).  Now, how many of those are women that came down for a boob job?   Grin

They don't have to buy it in Canada.  If they want to, it's available, but they don't have to.

Ya dig...

... the U.S. has substantially higher spending, worse population health outcomes, and worse access to care than other wealthy countries. For example, in 2016, the U.S. spent 17.8 percent of its gross domestic product on health care, while other countries ranged from 9.6 percent (Australia) to 12.4 percent (Switzerland). Life expectancy in the U.S. was the lowest of all 11 countries in the study, at 78.8 years; the range for other countries was 80.7 to 83.9 years. The proportion of the U.S. population with health insurance was 90 percent, lower than all the other countries, which ranged from 99 to 100 percent coverage.

This is the bottom line.  The US ranks at the bottom among advanced economies for health outcomes, and at the top for healthcare costs.

This isn't a political issue, it's just a fact.  A large body of evidence.  Even if you believe we should kill the ACA and let everyone get back to whatever private insurance they want, drug prices will STILL be spiraling up.  We STILL have cartelization of the supply chain, opaque pricing/kickbacks, and regulatory capture.  We still have flagrant abuse of the drug patenting system.  We still have a lobby that will shape and exploit healthcare policy, no matter which party sits in power.

It is almost as if government is destroying and manipulating the market for health services and the politicians in charge are working on behalf of big business, not patients.  Good thing we haven't handed over even more control to these corrupt individuals.

Quite right you are, my friend.  The Oligarchy wants to taken control away from individuals and taking over control of every individual's healthcare is a good a blackmail vehicle for the government to have, as Iran or North Korea having nuclear weapons.  Commoners must do as they dictate, or die!  The Democrats don't give a Rats Ass about everyday Americans.  It's all about gaining more and more power and control!

Greg

"Access" is one of those deliberately blurring political terms of the leftwing.  Their "access" means they have to wait 3 months for an MRI.  Meanwhile, if they have cancer, it gets a good head start while they're waiting,  waiting, waiting - with their "access".
