Seems Palin has a history of phucking up men's lives ..   John McCain would have been president in 08 had he not chosen her...

I have to admit, I find that extremely unlikely. And I'm a bit surprised to see you undersell Obama so much.

There was a tremendous enthusiasm gap in Obama's favor in 2008. McCain was never more than tolerated by the GOP base and he often couldn't even get that much support.

While he might have appealed to centrists, he simply didn't have what it took to get the party to show up in big enough numbers. And even centrists had to be concerned about his hawk-like foreign policy.

I can't think of any GOP VP pick that would have put him over the top.

A Lieberman pick would have been interesting. That was something that was apparently bandied about. I'm not sure what the result of that would have been, but my money is still on Obama.

Naw, but I don't cotton to 'em when they got so many miles on 'em.  Besides, she got too much baggage to suit me.

Lieberman would have brought out more independent voters.  In most cases people win elections not because of who votes, rather because of who don’t vote

But it would have cost him GOP votes.

So, it would have had to bring in a lot of independents that otherwise would have stayed home, or taken a decent number from Obama.

Given the anti-Iraq war sentiment in the country at the time, I remain unconvinced a dual-hawk McCain/Lieberman ticket would have beaten Obama.

I do think it would have been interesting and I'm not sure if he would have performed better or worse than he did with Palin, but I really don't think he'd have won.

Speaking of baggage.  Trump just dumped some of his.  Do you suppose he's aware that Sarah might be...um...available...  Tongue
