Thanks for bringing that up, maybe this is the same as cramming a bill through in the middle of the night.  Get over it, the wall is going up as we speak, crying over spilt milk has no redeeming value.

As a correction, the bill, voted on by Congress, wasn't "crammed" through in the middle of the night.  So, you'd have been OK if Obama took money from the military to fund his own projects?

Democrats Jammed Their Partisan Bill Through Holidays And Blizzards
“After a long day of acid, partisan debate, Senate Democrats held ranks early Monday in a dead-of-night procedural vote that proved they had locked in the decisive margin needed to pass a far-reaching overhaul of the nation’s health care system. The roll was called shortly after 1 a.m., with Washington still snowbound after a weekend blizzard, and the Senate voted on party lines …

“Senate Democrats approved landmark legislation just after sunrise Christmas Eve that would transform the nation's health-care system … Vice President Biden presided over the 60 to 39 party-line vote …” (“Senate Passes Health-Care Bill, Now Must Reconcile It With House,” The Washington Post, 12/25/2009)

“The Senate capped off a nearly monthlong floor debate with its near-record 25th consecutive day in session by holding a vote on Christmas Eve for the first time since debating the Vietnam War in 1963.” (“Senate Passes Historic Healthcare Reform Legislation In 60-39 Vote,” The Hill, 12/24/2009)

Democrats Used Reconciliation To Secure Passage Of Obamacare
“Democrats are pushing through the package of healthcare modifications using a process known as reconciliation, which requires a bare majority of 51 senators and vitiates use of the filibuster.” (“Little Cheer About Deal On Abortion,” Los Angeles Times, 3/25/2010)

“The White House and congressional leaders revived the bill after deciding on a two-step process - the House passing the Senate bill, followed by both chambers using fast-track rules known as reconciliation to pass a package of fixes. This was the only way House members would agree to approve the Senate bill and the only way the Senate could make changes that the House wanted.” (“Year-Long Fight Ends As Health Bill Clears Congress,” Politico, 3/25/2010)

Umm....  CC....

Quote:
The Senate voted Thursday to reinvent the nation’s health care system, passing a bill to guarantee access to health insurance for tens of millions of Americans and to rein in health costs.

The 60-to-39 party-line vote, starting at 7:05 a.m. on the 25th straight day of debate on the legislation, brings Democrats closer to a goal they have pursued for decades and brings President Obama a step closer to success in his signature domestic initiative. When the roll was called, with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. presiding, it was the first time the Senate had gathered for a vote on Christmas Eve since 1895.

If the bill becomes law, it would be a milestone in social policy, comparable to the creation of Social Security in 1935 and Medicare in 1965. But unlike those programs, the initiative lacks bipartisan support. Only one Republican supported a broadly similar bill that the House approved last month 220 to 215, and no Republicans backed the Senate version.

What is the cost of lies? It's not that we'll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all. What can we do then? What else is left but to abandon the hope of truth and content ourselves instead with stories. In these stories it doesn't matter who the heroes are. All we want to know is who is to blame. - V. That was a procedural vote.  The vote to pass the ACA wasn't until 7AM Christmas eve, 2009.

Did you miss that part?  Oh, and apparently, everybody was there for the vote, so, how was this "jammed" through?  I'm still trying to figure that part out.

How?  When they could not muster up the 60 vote super majority they changed the rules for a simple majority.
