The Fast-Tracking of the Healthcare Bill

Once the Senate passed the legislation for healthcare reform with a 60-39 vote, it was thought that the next steps would consist of the House revising their bill and the Senate, theirs. But it seems now that Congress has decided to fast track the process by skipping the formal conference committee and decided to just take the Senate bill, amend it, and send it back to the Senate for passage.

Besides skipping the conference committee, they are also skipping having the Republicans involved in the amending process, again showing how the Democrats continue to do everything in total secrecy. So much for bringing all parties together.

So the final bill could actually look quite different than the one that was passed on Christmas Eve. So the question comes, will the RINOs who voted for the Bill in their respective Chambers, vote for this bill? Will the Blue Dogs stick to their ground and vote against it? Now that elections are looming this year, will they be willing to sacrifice their political careers?

Congress is trying to get this piece of legislation passed before Obama’s State of the Union speech so he can have something to gloat about. Hopefully, some congressmen and women with ethics and a backbone will bring this bill to its deserved death before then.
