Steven Simmons, a P.E. teacher, who has 25 years of service in the district. The student took the video to Sheriff's deputy Tasha Nix, the school resource officer, who confronted the 49-year-old teacher. Simmons allegedly confessed. He was arrested for theft and has resigned. School officials took quick action to ensurenothing like this would ever happen again - - by threatening to expel the student for "using" his cell phone at school because it's against the school rules. (Ocala Star-Banner)... But backed off when parents with torches and pitchforks surrounded the administration building.

School Administrators are not very bright
BAIL POSTED IN SMALL BILLS: Boys at North Marion High School in Ocala, Florida, knew the locker room was trouble... it was common for valuables and cash to disappear from lockers during gym class, and it had been going on for years. A student finally put his cell phone in an empty locker to record what happened while students were out, and allegedly caught the thief on video.

Talk about hypocricy. That PE techer should have been thrown in jail, and that student should have gotten a medal. I really don't know if this is blatent stupidity on the part of the administration, or just blatent disregard for the rights of that school's students. In either case, the school board IMHO should look into hiring new administrators.

Good question, Spooky. I will see if I can find out more information about that parents were surrounded the building with torches and pitchforks.

Re: School Administrators are not very bright
I can'e udnerstand that either, Spooky. To me, it's the absolute height of hypocricy to punish a student for trying to catch a thief, so his and other student's things would be safe from that sort of thing. It's been going on for years, and it certainly is not fair to the students who have had lunch money, watches, and other items stolen from them. One time when I was in high school, my parents had to go out of town, so they gave me some food money that was supposed to last for about a week. Lunch & Dinner is what that money was for. I didn't like to carry it all in my wallet, because there was a group of bullies at the school who use to shake some of us down for our lunch money if they found out that I had a lot of it. Anyway to make a long story short, some hoodlum broke into my locker and took all of my lunch and dinner money, and for two days I had to go without. Fortunately my brother was able to help me out when he got his paycheck, but if I would have found out who broke into my locker, I would have broken every bone in his body.

Adding to this subject, an 18-year-old high school was recently called a "teabagger" by her teacher for objecting to a final exam worth 50% of the final grade based on the heavily liberal Michael Moore movie "Sicko".
Here is what the student said: "My biggest issue with it is my principal said that I can argue the conservative viewpoint, but that's something that I have background with, that I've researched myself."
"Every other student in that class was only given the liberal viewpoint of it, and that's exactly what teachers aren't supposed to do, is lean toward one side or the other."

It's sad, but a lot of schools, even private schools, are major indoctrination centers where teachers are feeding students a steady diet of what ever ajenda the government wants to promote. It's even worse on the college level.
